RROC - Business InfoSource Centre Welcomes Clients

RROC is pleased to announce that the Business InfoSource centre will once again be providing business development services to the Regina community. Beginning in January 2011, RROC will be providing one-on-one referral and advisory service to anyone interested in owning and operating their own small business.

The InfoSource centre is a business development "drop-in" office where prospective business owners can stop by to receive resources and assistance in opening their own business. "RROC receives numerous requests for assistance from folks that are working on a business idea or developing a business plan, with the InfoSource centre in operation, and our new Business Resource Officer providing this service, these prospective business owners and entrepreneurs will be better prepared to take the next step and approach our City's business development and lending institutions" says Economic Development Officer Brad McKenzie.

RROC's InfoSource Centre is designed to fill a gap in the business development network in Regina. Before approaching institutions and agencies, or having a consultant work on their plan, people often benefit from looking at what options are available, receiving information on programs, services, and agencies, and doing some homework before they move on to take the next step." In this way, the InfoSource Centre serves the business development agencies and firms of the city, by having people not yet fully prepared to start a business, come to the centre to work on their proposal and plan, and then are better equipped to approach a 'second stage' institution or agency” says McKenzie. These ‘second stage’ agents include organizations that manage lending programs, funds, and more advanced development programs for business, as well as the various non-profits and agencies in the city that are responsible getting new business off the ground, and of course, commercial lenders and private consultants and firms.

The InfoSource centre will work closely with these existing business support agencies in a referral system, to ensure that people are ready to access their programs and have gone through the steps necessary to ensure that their idea is feasible, profitable and well thought out. The Centre is designed to serve the both the prospective business owner, as well as the institutions that can take that person and his/her idea and make it a reality.
