Regina’s economy grew by more than five per cent in 2011, second only to St. John’s, N.L., but will ease to 2.9 per cent in 2012 — fourth among 27 major Canadian cities — the Conference Board of Canada said in its metropolitan outlook report Wednesday. “Surging employment is attracting newcomers to the area, fuelling strong population increases. The medium term looks good too, with GDP forecast to rise at least three per cent per year between 2013 and 2015,” the report said.
