P2C Background
Progress2Capital was developed by Regina Regional Opportunities Commission (formerly Regina Regional Economic Development Authority) and has operated as an annual competition since 2006. For six years, P2C has provided support and guidance to entrepreneurs starting new businesses. In addition to support of new entrepreneurs, the competition has developed connections between entrepreneurs and private businesses through mentorship and awareness of programs and services. P2C has worked with over 290 aspiring entrepreneurs and 63 finalist teams, successfully supporting the development of dozens of start-up Saskatchewan businesses including Hillberg and Berk, NetSecure, 320 solutions, Northern Fringe Resources, 310 Taxi, Delta Point Wireless, Check-It Monitoring Solutions, Prairie Berries, Sprossil Industries, Click Photobooth Rentals and more.
The success of P2C has been recognized by program participants and partners, and in 2008, was awarded Canada’s Economic Development Achievement of the Year by the Economic Developers Association of Canada and RBC Financial.
Now entering its 7th year, RROC and SREDA are partnering to expand P2C to a province-wide event. Although the competition has traditionally included competitors from across Saskatchewan, delivery of the competition has occurred only in Regina. Expanding P2C will now see delivery of the program from Regina and Saskatoon, and to the rest of the province by leveraging the province-wide videoconference network for delivery to other participating communities.
Applications will be accepted from across the province with applicants invited to an intensive development and pre-screening weekend. From there the top finalists will be selected and receive coaching for six months developing their business plan for final judging processes and selection. Prizes totaling approximately $100,000 to support business development will be provided to award winners including both cash and in-kind professional services.
